Hazel May Lechlider Staley, 86, of Gaithersburg, MD passed away on April 12, 2014. A celebration of life for Hazel will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Heritage Building at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.  There will be a luncheon following the service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so can make a contribution to the "Hazel Staley Scholarship Fund".
Scholarships of $1,000 minimum, will be awarded annually by the Scholarship Committee at the Montgomery County Agriculture Center.

Please make checks payable to MCAC and indicate on the note section of the check "Hazel Staley".

MAAFS Mission Statement



The organization was founded in 1984 and was incorporated in January 1994 as a not-for-profit corporation, within the parameters of Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The purpose of the organization is to provide a statewide mechanism for sharing information, ideas, methods, practices, regulations, that affect fair management operations and that contributes to the best interests of the fair going public. This is accomplished through an annual convention, newsletters, correspondence, sharing of reference library materials and other support services as deemed appropriate.

Membership eligibility is extended to any agricultural related fair, show or exhibition in Maryland with associate membership open to any fair-related support business/industry/organization.
