The Maryland Association of Agriculture Fairs and Shows, Inc will celebrate our 25th Anniversary at our annual Convention,  Friday November 6 through Sunday November 8, 2009 at the Princess Royale Hotel and Conference Center in Ocean City, Maryland. It is our second year at the Princess Royale and for those that joined us last year, we are confident you will be pleased to know we are back there again. We had a great convention last year and we are looking forward to another outstanding time.

This year’s convention is being hosted by the Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair. Please access our website at
www.maafs.com for the most up-to-date information. We have a great convention planned with some amazing speakers. This is an opportunity to network and participate by sharing with friends and neighbors in the Fair industry.
REGISTRATION: Enclosed is a form for you to use for this purpose. You may use this form to register individually or as a group from your organization (feel free to make copies and distribute). Everyone attending the convention must be registered. You will notice that we’ve changed it from last year. You will have the ability to register for the entire convention for only $185/person. If you are only able to make it to the convention for one day, you may come for Friday or Saturday (either is $125/person). And as always, we have many members that like to be sure to come down on Saturday night for our wonderful dinner and fabulous auction ($50/person). We have several options to choose from.
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION: Hopefully, you have already submitted your membership. If postmarked by October 7th, you’ll receive a $10 discount. Please be sure to provide current information for our records and an email address for updates throughout the year.
HOTEL REGISTRATION: Please make your registration directly with the Princess Royale (1-800-4-ROYALE or 410-524-7777) by October 5th deadline in order to receive the discounted room rate. Information sheet included.
TENTATIVE PROGRAM: See enclosed schedule & check our website for updates.
AUCTION: We will continue our tradition of our Live and Silent Auctions on Saturday night. This is a great opportunity to showcase some of your “BEST” while supporting our association. All proceeds support the convention and other association functions. Please bring auction items with you when you check in at the convention.
TRADE SHOW: Our association is dependent upon support from both our Associate and Regular members. Many will be participating in the trade show and showcase. We owe it to them to support them by visiting their booths and utilizing their services whenever practical.
FAIR PERSON OF THE YEAR: All fair members are encouraged to submit nominations by October 15th, using the enclosed form for a special presentation during the banquet on Saturday evening.
COMMUNICATIONS AWARD: Enclosed is the official entry form for the 2008-09 Contest. The deadline for receipt of entries is October 20th.

MAAFS takes the "Lead for Green" and asks all fairs and shows to send us one photo to include with our Go Green Champions. The photos can be emailed or mailed to John Richards for posting on our website.  Each participating fair will be recognized at the annual meeting on Sunday.  Awards sponsored by Fair Publishing House.

Thank you for your commitment and involvement in the Fair industry and we look forward to having you attend this most worthwhile educational experience.

Sincerely,

Janice Coroneos, Secretary, MAAFS
