Bill Langlotz

Bill has been involved with the Baltimore County 4-H Fair since its inception and is often referred to as the “Grandfather of the Fair”. Bill held the first fair president office and also was the president of the 40th fair which has given him the grandfather name. Bill has been on the board for many years helping to plan and set up the fair. He has been a club leader for 35 years and a volunteer of 4-H for many years.

Bill is an active member of his church were he serves as an usher for church services, helps to set up for funeral luncheons and also has helped serve for dinner theater plays. The church holds a Country Fair Day each Fall which is a huge fundraiser for the church. Bill is in charge of the Pit Beef Stand, cooking and making sandwiches and keeping everything in line for this great day of fellowship.

Bill serves with his community by helping the neighbors whenever they are in need. He is either helping to move snow in the winter, mowing lawns and pastures, feeding livestock, or just helping out in general whenever the neighbors call.

Bill worked for AAI Corporation in Cockeysville, MD for 40 years; retiring in January of 2000. He was a dedicated worker with the company and very conscious of his work and his employees. Bill worked in the heavy manufacturing area at AAI; and later became the supervisor of that department.

Since his retirement, Bill as assumed the role of Superintendent of the Farm and Garden building at the Maryland State Fair in 2001. Since becoming Superintendent Bill has made many changes in the Farm and Garden building giving it a new look to help better educate the public.

Bill will be the vice president of Baltimore County 4-H fair for the 2009-2010 fair season.
