James B. Arnold


Jim Arnold was born and raised in rural Montgomery County. He graduated from Damascus High School and spent his summers on a dairy farm. He held numerous offices in the FFA and student government and was a 4-H member that raised and exhibited livestock.

Jim attended the University of Maryland where he was active and held numerous offices in the 4-H and FFA student clubs. He was the President of the Agricultural Student Council and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education and his Master’s Degree in Agriculture and Extension Education.

Jim served 2 years in the U. S. Army and 30+ years with Maryland Cooperative Extension, during which time he was the 4-H Extension Agent for Charles County for 12 years as well as the State 4-H Program leader at College Park for 11 years.

His post retirement years have consisted of being on the Board of Directors of the Charles County Fair, Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Agricultural Fairs and Shows for 5 years, a volunteer with the 4-H department activities at the Maryland State Fair, and attend the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Convention for the past 3 years.
