Maryland Fairs “Lead with Green”


Champions For Green
Maryland Association of Agriculture Fairs Shows and Festivals have recently announced their launching of an effort to promote "Champions for Green" at all Fairs, Shows and Festivals because it is good for business, good for the visitor, good for the country and good for the environment. MAAFS will award those who participate, a souvenir “Champions for Green” Ribbon. Nominate your Maryland Show, Fair or Festival for the 2009 “Lead With Green” Grand Champion Award. This is a new award in recognition of Maryland Agricultural Fairs, Shows and Festivals. The award will honor the Maryland Agriculture event which prompted action and contributed to reducing the impacts we have on our environment. Judging for the Grand Champion will be based on the highest degree of impact to the community, impact on agriculture, and impact on the environment. Nominations are open to all Maryland Fairs, Shows and Festivals. Awards will be presented at “Tell It To The Judge” on Sunday, November 9, 2009 in Ocean City, Maryland.

Maryland Agriculture Fairs, Shows and Festival leads by example.  “In Maryland, we have a responsibility to be ahead of the curve and become advocates of regenerative environmental practices,” said Lynn Talbert, MAAFS President.
